What skills and experience we're looking for

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with young people, ideally within a secondary school or educational setting.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be confident in supporting students experiencing attendance, behavioural or pastoral challenges.
  • Have the ability to build positive and constructive relationships with students, parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Be highly organised with excellent administrative and record-keeping skills.
  • Have a high level of ICT competence and the ability to produce reports and analyse information.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Be willing to contribute fully to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing pastoral support and guidance for a designated year group.
  • Supporting student welfare, behaviour, attendance and punctuality.
  • Working proactively with families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning.
  • Supporting safeguarding processes, including Early Help referrals where appropriate.
  • Monitoring attendance and implementing intervention strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Maintaining accurate records and producing reports as required.
  • Contributing to the wider life of the school through parent evenings, school events and pastoral initiatives.
