After School Club Assistant job summary

We are recruiting a part‑time after school club assistant to support the delivery of a safe, engaging, and inclusive after school provision for children aged 4–11. This role is ideal for candidates seeking school support staff jobs, education assistant roles, or childcare work within a primary school setting.

Working closely within the after school club and wider school team, you will help create a positive environment where children feel safe, supported, and motivated outside of normal school hours.

Location: Mendip Green Primary School

Hours: 4 hours 30 minutes per week

Working pattern: Tuesday to Thursday, 3:30pm – 5:00pm, term time only

Interview date: 6 July 2026

Start date: 3 September 2026

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of after school activities and creative play
  • Supervise children and ensure a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment
  • Collect pupils from classrooms and assist with snacks and drinks
  • Set up, pack away, and safely store play equipment and resources
  • Maintain positive relationships with children, parents, carers, and staff
  • Support accurate attendance and departure records
  • Report any safeguarding, behaviour or health and safety concerns in line with school policy
  • Follow all school, trust, safeguarding, GDPR, and child protection procedures
