Assistant Headteacher job summary

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher to join our team at Watchlytes Primary School.

Watchlytes is a warm and welcoming nursery and primary school in Welwyn Garden City. Our community works together to ensure that children thrive during their years with us and grow into happy, confident individuals with a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Watchlytes children take pride in their work and enjoy the wonderful facilities and grounds. Watchlytes is part of Ivy Learning Trust, a family of schools dedicated to giving children a great education.

The Assistant Headteacher will support the Head of School in:

  • Communicating the school’s vision compellingly and supporting the

  • Head of School’s strategic leadership.

  • The day-to-day management of the school.

  • Formulating the aims and objectives of the school.

  • Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives.

  • Managing staff and resources to that end.

  • Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the school’s aims and objectives.

The Assistant Headteacher will also have a timetabled teaching commitment of 50%, complying with the Teachers Standards and modelling best practice to others.
