Building Site Supervisor job summary

Be the Heartbeat of Our School

St Francis Church of England Primary School and Nursery is looking for an exceptional Site Supervisor — someone who takes real pride in creating an environment where children thrive, staff flourish and learning comes first.

This isn't just a maintenance role. You'll be a vital part of our school community, ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, welcoming and ready for every school day. From the moment you open the gates each morning, your work directly shapes the experience of every child and adult on site.

The Role is 25 hours per week | Term time only | 7:00am - 12:00 noon

You'll take ownership of the day-to-day running of our site — carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, managing health and safety compliance, and working with external contractors to keep standards high. Organised, practical and proactive, you'll spot problems before they become issues and solve them before anyone else notices.

What you'll be doing:

  • Keeping our buildings and grounds in excellent condition — repairs, decorating and general upkeep
  • Opening and securing the site, ensuring safety at the start and end of every day
  • Carrying out routine compliance checks across health, safety and site systems
  • Monitoring and operating heating and building management systems
  • Coordinating external contractors — cleaning, catering, grounds — to deliver quality and value
  • Supporting room set-ups, furniture moves and out-of-hours use of the premises
  • Keeping the whole site clean, tidy and a place the whole community is proud of

What we're looking for:

  • A practical, hands-on person who takes initiative and gets things done
  • Someone who genuinely cares about the environment they maintain
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety requirements
  • Confident with basic maintenance and repairs
  • A great communicator who builds strong relationships with colleagues and contractors
  • Calm, organised and able to juggle a varied workload with a smile

Come and see us! We'd love to show you around before you apply. Contact the school office to arrange a visit — we think once you've seen our school, you'll want to be part of it.

Full details are available in the job description and person specification.
