Abbey Primary School is a successful school whose staff and community are wholly dedicated to improving the life chances of the pupils they serve. The staff team are united in their commitment to giving every pupil the best possible start in life, irrespective of background or circumstance.

The school, which has recently received an extremely successful Ofsted inspection, wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic class teacher as an instrumental addition to its dedicated, supportive, and high performing staff team. We are looking for an empathetic, caring person who recognises the importance of nurturing strong and trusting relationships, thus enabling our children to reach their full potential, both personally and academically.

The successful candidate will be passionate and committed – they will go the extra mile to bring out the best in each child by investing in their success – personally, socially, spiritually and academically. They will take pride in maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of curriculum developments and current pedagogical approaches for effective teaching and learning, bringing high-energy, a hard-working attitude and innovative ideas. They will be someone who enjoys a challenge, seeks the reward of bringing out the best in others and strives to make a difference.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • Have a strong desire to ‘be the best teacher they can be’
  • Have high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour and firmly believe that every child can achieve
  • Facilitate a stimulating, safe and happy learning environment
  • Be reflective about their own teaching and the school’s approaches – willing to research, suggest and implement new ideas
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills; a growth mindset, a well-developed sense of humour and enjoy being part of a friendly and supportive team
  • Be enthusiastic, caring and hardworking
  • Be willing to make a wider contribution to the life of the school and its community

What the school offers its staff

  • Caring, hard-working and motivated children who enjoy learning
  • A welcoming, inclusive and supportive school community
  • Hard working, supportive and caring colleagues
  • A supportive and forward-thinking governing body
  • A well-resourced, attractive working environment
  • A commitment to your induction and continued professional development
  • Membership of the ONE Academy Trust
