What skills and experience we're looking for
Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with the Local Monitoring Committee of Goonhavern Primary School, are seeking to appoint a warm, committed and proactive teacher to work in our one-form-entry village school for the remainder of the academic year.
Goonhavern Primary is a friendly school situated at the heart of a supportive community. Our pupils benefit from spacious grounds and a dedicated staff team who are passionate about helping every child achieve their full potential.
We are looking for a teacher who places relationships at the centre of their work — someone who models kindness, respect and high expectations, and who builds trust with children, staff and families alike. The successful candidate will strengthen shared routines and ensure a calm, purposeful environment where learning can flourish.
We value both academic achievement and rich, memorable experiences that help children develop their personal strengths, confidence and resilience. This role offers a wonderful opportunity to support our children for two terms and to work with a team who care deeply about making a positive difference every day.
About You:
You will be a nurturing and confident teacher who places relationships at the centre of school life. You understand how strong routines and clear expectations create the foundations for a calm, purposeful environment where children feel secure, respected and ready to learn.
You will bring a positive, collaborative approach, working closely with staff, families and pupils to ensure that every child can thrive. You will model high aspirations for behaviour and learning, while always leading with kindness and empathy.
You will value both academic achievement and rich, memorable experiences that promote curiosity, independence and a love of learning. You will inspire children to take pride in themselves and their school.
You will quickly become part of our community — communicating openly, celebrating successes and supporting continuous improvement with enthusiasm and optimism. Above all, you will believe wholeheartedly in the potential of every child and be committed to helping them feel happy, confident and able to shine.
