Cover Coordinator job summary

The Kingston Academy is seeking to appoint an organised, proactive and highly professional Cover Coordinator to join our support staff team.

The Kingston Academy is a high-performing, inclusive secondary school founded in 2015. Today we educate over 1,400 pupils from Year 7 through to Sixth Form and are proud to serve our diverse and vibrant community.

This is a key operational role, responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day management of staff cover arrangements, enabling the smooth continuity of teaching and learning across the school. Working closely with senior leaders, the HR team and the wider administration team, you will coordinate staffing solutions, manage staff absences and ensure lessons remain appropriately supervised with minimal disruption.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring staff absence notifications and arranging daily cover requirements.
  • Producing and communicating cover schedules to staff.
  • Proactively identifying staffing risks through the school's Management Information System (MIS).
  • Acting as the first point of contact for all cover-related matters.
  • Liaising with senior leaders and external agencies to secure additional staffing support when required.
  • Providing wider administrative support, including maintaining records, coordinating room changes and supporting school procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection, health and safety requirements and school policies.
