We are excited to announce a new opportunity to join The Grange School as our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) — a key strategic role within our Senior Leadership Team.

This newly created position reflects our commitment to strengthening our already excellent safeguarding provision and ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and valued. As DSL, you will lead on all aspects of safeguarding across the school, shaping our strategic direction and embedding a culture of vigilance, care, and proactive support.

We serve a richly diverse community and are proud of our inclusive ethos and strong pastoral care. This new DSL role is central to our vision — ensuring that every child is safe, supported, and able to thrive. By leading our safeguarding strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our school and making a lasting difference to all but especially to the most vulnerable in our community.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to take on the following key responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership of safeguarding, attendance, mental health, and wellbeing.
  • Line management of key pastoral staff and oversight of safeguarding systems.
  • Liaison with external agencies and representation at Trust safeguarding forums.
  • Development and implementation of safeguarding policies and training.
  • Monitoring and tracking of vulnerable students and those with social care involvement.
  • Oversight of safeguarding in alternative provision and due diligence processes.
  • Championing staff wellbeing and contributing to whole-school development.
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

What we can offer you

  • This is a unique opportunity for a member of support staff to join our Senior Leadership Team, and to make a meaningful impact in a school that values care, ambition, and community.
  • An opportunity to work with wonderful children and their families
  • Automatic membership of the Dorset Local Government Pension Scheme

  • Local discounts negotiated on behalf of our staff e.g. gym memberships, hair and beauty salons, chiropractic care, cycle shops, restaurants, motoring services, and retail/DIY stores
  • Access to national discounts on a wide variety of huge brands
  • Free on-site parking
  • The opportunity to work within Twynham Learning; a progressive multi-academy trust
