- Proven leadership or management experience in a school or similar setting.
- Experience in safeguarding leadership, including working with children, families, and external agencies.
- Demonstrable success in developing and implementing strategies to support children and families.
- Experience handling sensitive data with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
- Committed to making a meaningful difference to all our students but especially the most vulnerable.

About the Post
We are excited to announce a new opportunity to join The Grange School as our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) — a key strategic role within our Senior Leadership Team.
This newly created position reflects our commitment to strengthening our already excellent safeguarding provision and ensuring that every child feels safe, supported, and valued. As DSL, you will lead on all aspects of safeguarding across the school, shaping our strategic direction and embedding a culture of vigilance, care, and proactive support.

This new DSL role is central to our vision — ensuring that every child is safe, supported, and able to thrive. By leading our safeguarding strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our school and making a lasting difference to all but especially to the most vulnerable in our community.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to take on the following key responsibilities:
- Strategic leadership of safeguarding, attendance, mental health, and wellbeing.
- Line management of key pastoral staff and oversight of safeguarding systems.
- Liaison with external agencies and representation at Trust safeguarding forums.
- Development and implementation of safeguarding policies and training.
- Monitoring and tracking of vulnerable students and those with social care involvement.
- Oversight of safeguarding in alternative provision and due diligence processes.
- Championing staff wellbeing and contributing to whole-school development.
- Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.
