What skills and experience we're looking for

Essential skills

  • Good level of general education – a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (A-C) or equivalent including Maths and English.
  • DBS clearance.
  • Evidence of ability to form professional relationships with both students and colleagues.
  • Previous experience of working in a Finance, Banking or school finance / administration environment.
  • Experience of computer-based accounting systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Finance and accounting.
  • To be able to work as part of a team and build positive relationships.
  • An ability to take initiative and seek advice where appropriate.
  • The ability to work under pressure and handle large workload.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Accurate with an attention to detail.
  • Energy and enthusiasm with a flexible approach to work.
  • Able to process high volumes of repetitive work (purchase orders and invoices)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • A commitment to continue own personal development.

THE SCHOOL

Bishop Heber High School has 1,300 students, including 225 in the Sixth Form, and serves three large villages and surrounding hamlets in this beautiful area of south-west Cheshire. There are strong community links through joint adult/Sixth Form curriculum innovations. The School’s Library, Sports Hall and Conference facilities are all used by the community. We are looking to appoint an experienced Finance Administrator to start in September 2026 at this, lively and successful 11-18 Secondary School.

Applicants must be highly motivated, have excellent organisational skills and be enthusiastic. The position requires the successful candidate to ensure the efficient maintenance and day to day management of the School’s finances in a fast paced, challenging environment. The successful candidate will be extremely hard working, have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to providing a high level of support to students, staff, governors, parents and visitors. Applicants must be able to work as part of a team and independently.

Candidates will have preferably have experience working in a Financial or Banking environment or have experience working within a school finance office. Candidates must also be able to demonstrate an understanding of data privacy and have a sound working knowledge of Excel and spreadsheets. Hours of work will be agreed with the successful candidate but ideally these will be worked over 4-5 days and between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
