Governance Clerk job summary
Steel City Schools Partnership are looking to recruit Clerk(s) to support our Local School Committees and wider governance service.
Pay scale: Grade 5/6
Contract: Permanent (up 25 hours per week, term-time only)
Start date: September 2026
We are looking for enthusiastic and organised individuals to provide administrative support, advice and guidance to Local School Committee’s on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. Clerks contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of governance across our Trust by providing:
- administrative and organisational support
- guidance to ensure the Local School Committees works in compliance with its legal and regulatory framework
- advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the local school committees.
We are looking for people who can communicate effectively and inspire others to contribute to excellent governance in our Trust, and who are willing to undertake training. Clerks will be working in a team under the Trust’s Governance Lead.
We are looking for 25 hours per which can be fulfilled by one person or split into 2 roles as per below:
Post 1: 12.5 hours a week (term time only) supporting schools in the North of Sheffield (Parson Cross/Chapeltown area)
Post 2: 12.5 hours a week (term time only) supporting schools in the South of Sheffield (Woodseats/Greenhill/Beighton)
Start date: September 2026. Working patterns to be negotiated. The roles will include some evening working to support Local School Committee meetings.
