Education & Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status
Degree or equivalent
SEN / Inclusion training or qualification

Professional Development

Evidence of ongoing and appropriate professional development
Commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice
Up-to-date safeguarding training and knowledge of safeguarding legislation
Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to leadership

Experience

Effective teaching experience within a primary setting
Experience working with pupils unable to access mainstream education
Experience supporting pupils with SEND or complex needs
Experience of working in an inclusion, nurture, alternative or bespoke provision, either within or alongside a mainstream school
Experience of supporting pupils who are emotionally disengaged, school‑refusing or struggling with anxiety related to learning
Experience of supporting pupils through transition, reintegration or graduated return to mainstream learning
Experience of planning for and delivering learning to pupils with SEND through personalised and adapted curriculum pathways

Knowledge & Experience of teaching

Proven excellence in classroom practice within the primary phase
Secure understanding of the National Curriculum / EYFS
Secure understanding of assessment, moderation and the use of data to inform teaching and intervention
Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse needs
Ability to manage behaviour positively and relationally
Commitment to evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning
A commitment to addressing equality and diversity positively, sensitively and appropriately.

Inclusion and Pupil Support

Commitment to inclusive practice and meeting the needs of all pupils
Experience of working with pupils with additional needs
Ability to work effectively with parents, carers and external agencies
Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and pastoral care
