Education & Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Degree or equivalent
  • SEN / Inclusion training or qualification

Professional Development

  • Evidence of ongoing and appropriate professional development
  • Commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training and knowledge of safeguarding legislation
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to leadership

Experience

  • Effective teaching experience within a primary setting
  • Experience working with pupils unable to access mainstream education
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND or complex needs
  • Experience of working in an inclusion, nurture, alternative or bespoke provision, either within or alongside a mainstream school
  • Experience of supporting pupils who are emotionally disengaged, school‑refusing or struggling with anxiety related to learning
  • Experience of supporting pupils through transition, reintegration or graduated return to mainstream learning
  • Experience of planning for and delivering learning to pupils with SEND through personalised and adapted curriculum pathways

Knowledge & Experience of teaching

  • Proven excellence in classroom practice within the primary phase
  • Secure understanding of the National Curriculum / EYFS
  • Secure understanding of assessment, moderation and the use of data to inform teaching and intervention
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse needs
  • Ability to manage behaviour positively and relationally
  • Commitment to evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning
  • A commitment to addressing equality and diversity positively, sensitively and appropriately.

Inclusion and Pupil Support

  • Commitment to inclusive practice and meeting the needs of all pupils
  • Experience of working with pupils with additional needs
  • Ability to work effectively with parents, carers and external agencies
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and pastoral care
