Education & Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Degree or equivalent
- SEN / Inclusion training or qualification
Professional Development
- Evidence of ongoing and appropriate professional development
- Commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice
- Up-to-date safeguarding training and knowledge of safeguarding legislation
- Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to leadership
Experience
- Effective teaching experience within a primary setting
- Experience working with pupils unable to access mainstream education
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND or complex needs
- Experience of working in an inclusion, nurture, alternative or bespoke provision, either within or alongside a mainstream school
- Experience of supporting pupils who are emotionally disengaged, school‑refusing or struggling with anxiety related to learning
- Experience of supporting pupils through transition, reintegration or graduated return to mainstream learning
- Experience of planning for and delivering learning to pupils with SEND through personalised and adapted curriculum pathways
Knowledge & Experience of teaching
- Proven excellence in classroom practice within the primary phase
- Secure understanding of the National Curriculum / EYFS
- Secure understanding of assessment, moderation and the use of data to inform teaching and intervention
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse needs
- Ability to manage behaviour positively and relationally
- Commitment to evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning
- A commitment to addressing equality and diversity positively, sensitively and appropriately.
Inclusion and Pupil Support
- Commitment to inclusive practice and meeting the needs of all pupils
- Experience of working with pupils with additional needs
- Ability to work effectively with parents, carers and external agencies
- Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and pastoral care
