What skills and experience we're looking for

The successful candidate will have;

  • A good standard of education/3 or more GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 minimum.
  • Previous experience of working in a preschool or nursery setting.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • A full and relevant Early Years qualification to level three or above is also desirable.

We are excited to be opening Little Learners at West Huntspill for 5 days a week from September 2025. Initially joining the team part time (29.6 hours over four days a week), the postholder will increase to full time (37hours) over five days from September 2025.

At Little Learners Preschool we understand and celebrate the unique qualities in every child and we ensure our setting is an enjoyable and positive experience for all of the children in our care. Our classroom has access to outstanding resources and learning opportunities, with the outside area being an extension of the classroom. Our outdoor area is equipped with natural, loose parts resources, we pride ourselves in encouraging children to be inquisitive and use their imagination to develop their play and learning.

The aims and ambitions for the preschool over the next few years are really exciting and we will require pro-active, problem solving team players to cheerfully get involved to continue the work already being carried out to enhance our successful nursery for the youngest members of The Huntspill's community.

As part of this role, you will;

  • Lead the preschool team in providing a friendly, caring and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children appropriately.
  • Provide an exemplary preschool education for children aged 2 - 4 years.
  • Contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation processes and requirements.
  • Participate in ensuring Little Learners Preschool complies with the OFSTED regulations and other requirements as agreed.
  • Participate in maintaining the resources and equipment as required to ensure smooth and safe running of the Preschool facilities.
