What skills and experience we're looking for

  • Experience of working with children in a school, childcare, or similar setting.
  • A good understanding of how children learn and develop.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
  • Patience, flexibility and a caring approach.
  • Ability to support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Good standards of literacy and numeracy.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
  • Experience of supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Knowledge of phonics, early reading, or intervention programmes
