What skills and experience we're looking for
- Experience of working with children in a school, childcare, or similar setting.
- A good understanding of how children learn and develop.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
- Patience, flexibility and a caring approach.
- Ability to support pupils with a range of learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Good standards of literacy and numeracy.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and professional development.
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
- Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
- Experience of supporting pupils with SEND.
- Knowledge of phonics, early reading, or intervention programmes
