What skills and experience we're looking for

Essential

  • Experience of working with pupils with SEND, and pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Experience working alongside an SLT to develop the quality of the curriculum and learning activities.
  • Experience co-ordinating provision for children with SEND.
  • Experience of behaviour management techniques for groups and individuals with SEND.
  • Experience working effectively with colleagues to improve classroom practice.
  • Experience utilising and analysing effective assessment systems and recording and maintaining pupil records.

Desirable

  • Experience liaising with a range of people, agencies, and professionals including, the parents of pupils, the LA and other providers.
  • Experience in making reasonable adjustments and access arrangements for pupils with SEND.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work across two thriving, values-led primary schools within a collaborative and forward-thinking Trust.

This role is pivotal to the organisation, working closely with the Director for Inclusion as SENDCo across both schools, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for SEND provision across EYFS to Year 6
  • Champion a culture of high expectations and inclusive practice
  • Lead on EHCP processes, Annual Reviews and statutory compliance.
  • Work closely with families, external agencies and local authority services
  • Support and coach teachers and support staff to deliver adaptive, high-quality teaching
  • Contribute to Trust-wide SEND development and improvement priorities
  • You will also play an important role in supporting school leaders in matters regarding managing medical needs and provision for looked after children as well as act as a deputy designated safeguarding lead alongside other members of the team.

You will work closely with two experienced Headteachers and be part of a strong Trust leadership network committed to professional growth and shared expertise.

  • Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (or is willing to complete it)
  • Has a strong track record of improving outcomes for pupils with additional needs
  • Demonstrates deep knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Leads with clarity, compassion and conviction
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with families and colleagues
  • Is solution-focused, organised and resilient
  • Believes wholeheartedly that every child can flourish
