Careers Advisor, The Quay School

Permanent, 15hrs per week, Term time only (plus 30hrs during summer holidays)

Salary: Grade G, £32,061 – £36,363 FTE, actual salary for part-time, term-time working £11,698 – £13,268 per annum

About us:

We are an Alternative Provision school with four campuses, each supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We see every young person as an individual and work with them in ways that suit their unique strengths and challenges.

Our goal is to help students grow into confident, independent, and happy people who can make a positive impact wherever life takes them.

To do this, we draw on approaches like PACE, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Growth Mindset, Unconditional Positive Regard, and Restorative Justice. Familiarity with these ideas is helpful, but not essential—you’ll have plenty of support to learn along the way.

If you’re looking for a role that challenges, rewards, and fills you with purpose in a world where every day is unique and every moment counts, this could be the role for you!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working at our Harbourside campus with students who have struggled with their social, emotional and mental health, leading to exclusion from mainstream school.
  • Building positive and supportive relationships with young people to help them grow in confidence and resilience.
  • Supporting students with their post-16 options, including applications and interview preparation.
  • Continuing to provide support for the first year after they leave us, helping them with challenges around further education, employment or training.
  • Taking part in training to develop your skills for the role.
  • Being part of an inclusive and collaborative team who face challenges together and stay committed to making a difference.

Join us and make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people, one step, one success, and one positive relationship at a time.

This role is based on our Harbourside Campus, Turlin Road, BH16 5AH. Visits are welcome, please contact Dan Beck- d.beck@thequayschool.com
