Sandy Lane Primary is looking to employ a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work in KS1.

Job Information

Supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Key Stage 1, this role involves working closely with teachers to help pupils access learning, develop social skills, and achieve their full potential. Responsibilities include planning and delivering tailored learning activities, providing one-to-one and small-group support, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment, and assisting with pupils' personal, social, and emotional development. The role requires experience working with SEND children, strong communication skills, patience, and a commitment to supporting individual learning needs.

Role Overview: To support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by helping them access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their full potential within a safe and inclusive classroom environment.

Key Duties:

  • Support pupils with SEND in lessons and activities.
  • Plan and prepare learning activities.
  • Assist with pupils' curriculum, personal, and social development.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff members.
  • Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.
