What skills and experience we're looking for
Previous experience in a School Business Officer role is desirable but not essential, so long as transferable skills can be demonstrated. The role is to:
Manage the provision of administrative support within the school in a broad range of activities, where co-ordination, interaction and awareness of related activities are important in supporting the smooth running of the school. Provide school business support to employees, pupils, parents, governors and other stakeholders as and when required.Provide a welcome and professional front-of-house service
Previous experience in a Clerk to Governors role is desirable but not essential, so long as transferable skills can be demonstrated. The role is to:
Provide advice and guidance to the governing body on governors, constitutional and procedural matters and work within the broad current legislative framework. Secure the continuity of Governing Body business whilst observe confidentiality requirements. Contribute towards the efficient functioning of the governing body and its committees by providing high quality administrative and organisational support, guidance to ensure the board works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences of non-compliance and advise on procedural matters relating to the operation of the governing body.

We currently have 55 lovely children between 3 classes, and wonderfully supportive parents, staff and governors who ensure there is a close-knit family feel and caring ethos to the school. As we are such a small school, you would play a key part in the life of the school, and your efforts would ensure our continued success and good reputation.
Whilst knowledge of school administrative systems and governance is desirable, it is not essential so long as the successful candidate brought suitable skills and a willingness to undergo training in the relevant systems and procedures.

Further information about the job
The SBO role is for 30 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, ideally covering the school day during term time (although some flexibility may be considered). Within the 40 weeks is one week which can be taken flexibly across school holidays to help keep on top of admin tasks. The CtG role is set at 1.2 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, but this is to cover term time governor meetings (about 12 meetings per year) in the early evenings and the preparation around them, rather than set weekly hours.
